MODULE OUTLINE// 

SYNOPSIS

A continuation of the investigation of architecture history development that began in Architecture Culture & History 1 [ARC 60103]. Lectures will provide detailed accounts of the principal developments in the Western world from the revolutionary period to the present day. Buildings will be explored with reference to major contemporary examples and the work and philosophy of significant exponents. Students will undertake a major research of a significant building, complete with investigation of the major influences that led to its development and in turn its influence in other architectural aspects.

PROJECT//01

TIME-LINE AND DIAGRAM ANALYSIS (Integration with Studio 2)

For my group, we got South East Kuala Lumpur which included the area of Brickfields,Pudu,Cheras,Seputeh&Taman Desa, Sungai Besi & Tun Razak. Each group members need to choose one of the building in those area and do the analysis based on, but not limited to, the following:

a) Organization of form

b) Organization of space

c) Circulation and paths-space relationship

d) Axis and relations of axes

e) Massing

f) Symmetry and balance

g) Rhythm and repetition

The objectives is to allow us to undertake a research analysis process on Modern Malaysian architecture practices throughout history through literature review and document analysis and present an appropriate chronological account of the Malaysian architecture based on the understanding gained through the analysis procedure. Besides, to familiarize with the activities of culmination and production of a research analysis through assemblage, chronological indices and evaluation of information; composing and organization of study; assembly of illustration and text; design layout composition; poster and presentation. Lastly, to introduce visual and critical thinking through learning from precedents with diagramming, and to introduce the basic principles of form, space and order in the architectural design of Modern Malaysian architecture.

REPORT - Group & Individual

As a group of 4, we have conduct a research and architectural analysis on our selected building- Menara Standard Chartered. My group-mates are Lee Fei Syen, Lee Jun Yen and Law Zhi Chang. We went for site visit to document the findings and information. The report are divided into two component:

   there local influence? Identify and explain further if it has local influence.

Each of us have to distribute the main paragraph accordingly and equally. So, my chosen question is Architecture Style Analysis of Menara Standard Chartered.
