MODULE OUTLINE//
SYNOPSIS
This course will be introducing us to the world of Computer Generated 3-Dimensional drawings. The course will be taught with minimal handouts but there will be lectures and tutorial sessions for the students in order to experiment with the software. We are advised to practice daily, as only through practice will they be able to understand and master the software. They are also encouraged to carry out self-research in regards to the other capabilities and more complicated features of 3DS Max and Revit Architecture. We will also be taught the potential of “cross breeding” different softwares, in order to garner the necessary desired results for their visualisation work.
PROJECT//01
Revit Modeling & Documentation
This project involves the production of Revit model of the selected architecture design using Architectural Components such as Wall, Roof, Stairs, Floor, Curtain Wall, Doors and Windows. At the end of the project, the model shall be used to generate documentation drawings, using Revit Architecture’s Documentation Components such as Sheets, Titleblock, Sections, Room Tags, Schedule & etc.
WORK IN PROGRESS

Grid lines is draw for reference

After adding wall, floor, ramp and stairs

Toposurface is added

Adding room tag and room schedule

Add "Levels" to indicate each floor
Add "Levels" to indicate each floor

Customize own material, wire mesh flooring
Customize own material, wire mesh flooring

Doing the isometric by pulling the planes and add the path

Using the family door template and add the reference line.

Add parameter and annotation of the opening.
REVIT FAMILY
REVIT FAMILY

After that use extrusion tool to create the shape of door

Change the materials

So that's the finished door family
ARCHITECTURAL DRAWINGS DOCUMENTATION

A1 sheets is done, then change the infos and drag the drawings in.

REVIT RENDERING

PROJECT//02
Exterior & Interior Renderings
The third project involves the production of photorealistic still renderings using 3DS Max of the selected architecture design with materials, appropriate camera views and post-production enhancement on the visual outcome. The visualisation work would be assessed on the types and ways materials are used, types of lights and effects used to set up the scene, setup of appropriate camera views for rendering and skills of using postproduction tools to enhance the visual outcome
EXTERIOR RENDERING

Importing fbx file from revit to 3dsmax

After render setup is done, i started with activate mr.sun, sky and see is it functional by test render.

Then started by opening material Editor so I could begin with creating my materials by inserting texture photos through bitmap

By using the modify tool, I added a UVW Map to adjust the orientation of the timber texture.

I copied the material from the timber to concrete to another material window, thn adjusted the texture and bump image.

All is done then i started my final rendering

Render setup is changed to Mental Ray.

Adding camera and adjust the viewpoint to eye level view

After applying the material, i did a quick render test to have a look of the quality of the material

I used edit poly tool under Modify to select the planes of the floor and walls. then detached them from the rest of the poly so that I may add a different material to it
The steps is repeating to apply all the materials. Open the environment & effects to check the preset and exposure before final rendering

After the render is done and save, go to photoshop to add the site context ,human, and bird to produce a better render as well as did some adjustment of the brightness etc.
INTERIOR RENDERING

First, import my project file to 3dsmax. Attach the file

Modify and search for edit poly to separate linked component that ease to add materials on different plane

Applying the material onto the surfaces and proceed to add bump map
Do a quick render to see the hue of the light.

Final rendering is processing

set a camera to view my desired space and angle it to eye level view

open material editor and add new material through bitmap

On the light in targeted light properties, go to modify and choose uniform spherical type with 5000% intensity, emit light from disc

Once the light is done, i move on to environment & effects to check the preset and exposure before final rendering

After the render is done and save, move on to photoshop to add the background and human, also did some adjustment
